Work place safety is huge these days with all the lawsuits and workers compensation claims big company's pay out every year its no wonder why. However, from safety overalls to proper training, there's many ways to limit the dangers.
When I worked in a tool and die factory my supervisor was always on us about "stay alert" or "keep your eyes open". Common sense right? You'd be surprised just how many people cant follow these simple instructions. One of my coworkers was walking to the bath room talking away on his cell phone (against the rules) when he slipped on some grease one of the fork lifts was leaking and cracked his head open on a belt sander. Now hes in a wheelchair collecting workers compensation that the company has to pay, with a lawsuit against the company in the works. Even though it was his fault the company still has to pay. That was the first accident the company had in 390 days. They had a good run but all it took was one person not paying attention and that's it his life was changed forever. Its even gotten to the point where some company's have hired on site safety officials to just sit in the work place and watch the employs all day. Workers saftey doesn't only effect the worker and the company, it also effects the consumer. All that workers compensation, higher insurance rates, and lawsuit costs get passed on to the consumer when they buy a product! |

Our bungalow house was made about 20 years ago, and due to budget constraints, concreting of some parts were not done, including smooth finishing of the wall from the outside. The problem really comes during rainy seasons where molds appear on the walls of our house from the inside. Needless to say, molds are a danger to everyone’s health, especially to children. The most probable reason why these molds started appearing in our house is because of the undone cement finishing of the walls from the outside, allowing water particles to enter into the cement blocks, finally through the wall on the other side. It makes it impossible to use bonding agents like
Pinkgrip for this reason. This is really frustrating for me since I am the man of the house and I cannot do anything about it. My plan is to gather some budget and buy the materials needed to implement smooth finishing of our walls. I really don’t need the services of a professional because I think this is a DIY project. |

Although I was still a a relatively small kid at the time, I clearly remember my grandmother going into the hospital. After it had become clear that she wouldn't be able to get out of there anymore, we needed to clear out her appartment. It's one thing to have to clean up your own stuff, from a mess you made yourself. But to be cleaning out an apartment where someone else organised their life and stuff, that is something else. However, I'd had experience with some big jobs in my time - from oil tank installation to pipe laying - so I was ready for this.
We came well prepared, with moving boxes and tools. We found out that it was not only the physical task of mobilising everything, but also having to make the decision of what to keep, and what to throw away. In the end, it turns out that it is in fact much easier to get a house to a state of emptiness when it is not your own. Especially when even the carpet has to go. |

One of the best innovations of mankind which actually led to the advancement of our civilization was the fact that humans learned how to use steel. Because of this, we were able to make various tools and gadgets made from this very durable material. However, the best use of this material was in the use for steel buildings. When the steel buildings were made, it easily gave mankind an exponential leap since out of the basic necessities of man, the shelter part was now well taken care of.
That is why it is extremely important for huge establishments to be made out of steel since it is very durable and can easily stand against the elements. That is also the reason why we have an abundance of metal buildings since we need a building that can withstand the heavy amounts of traffic and stand against the elements. So if your company is looking for someone who can make these kinds of buildings, then you can easily find one to your liking. |

When I'm working on restoration projects, I always have in mind the original architect of the building. I actually "talk" to the architect - I whisper some words that are both complimentary and humbline when on the job to show some respect. It's our job to ensure the original design is maintained and the spirit and feeling the building conveys isn't lost in our restoration. As some jobs are quite intensive and may require new materials altogether, we must always be conscious of the purpose of restoration. We are not re-building, we are restoring, regalvanising and invigorating the original design. I'm always on the look out for such jobs - I'm often entering keywords like roofing contractors uk to see what kinds of restoration jobs are available and in the pipeline. When my skills are called upon, I always do research on the building first - I want to know everything about it before I begin work on it. |

The home I live in was built back in the late 70's and has a typical gabled roof and is sheathed in texture-111 siding. You've likely seen this type of siding on utility sheds and garages. It works. It holds up well to the weather but, it just does not have much style. I want something that looks more 'Modernist'. And by that term I mean the type of building that we all see in fancy shelter magazines clean square and simple lines, flat or single pitched(shed) roofs and lots of glass. My plan is simple for this goal. I will extend one side of the gabled roof and create a flat shed style roof which, instead of shingles, will be clad in standing seam metal roofing with a silver color. The exterior walls of the house will be sealed and covered with large panel sheets of galvanized steel. All of the glazing(windows) will be replaced with ones that are rectangular and fit between the studs of the house so that no headers need to be built and more window space is created. I know the changes I require will involve skilled workers using tools like masonry saws and whatnot, and it will not be cheap. But it will be worth it. When this is all done the 'cheap' looking ranch style home will, instead, look like a sleek and modern dwelling. |

Untidy streets can have an extremely negative impact on the "streetscape" and overall city. It has become increasingly common to neglect duties of placing litter in the bin, as we've relied more and more upon the council to clean up after us with their petrol pressure washers and other high-tech equipment. It can be incredibly dirty and unsightly seeing old decomposed rubbish on the streets. The small can be absolutely putrid and may keep people away from the area which can have a negative effect on immediate businesses. Often where there is a lot of rubbish a city may not look the best and will detract from the general area. It is not an impossible task to be involved in by place rubbish in the bin. Nobody should have to be subjected to dirty rubbish on the streets. This offending rubbish may also get into water ways which can have a disastrous outcome on marine life. As a society we should try our very best at discarding rubbish appropriately and if an individual is found littering they should receive a hefty fine. |
