Being fit today is very hard as we tend to do less and less physical activities. We have no time to prepare quality and healthy meals, which reflects on our weight and physical look negatively. I used to keep myself fit by playing soccer two times weekly with my faculty friends. The match lasted for 1 hour, in which at least 40 minutes were constant running. After we stopped playing because we didn’t have that much time, I started visiting the local gym. I was regular there and started to improve my form, but again my lack of free time was crucial, and I had to quit. Today I’m keeping myself with only with walking to and from work, instead of using the local transportation. It is the most I can do at this time. I hope that in the future I’ll have some more free time and start again to play soccer.

Don’t you just hate it when you suddenly have to pay for something that is not on your budget during a vacation? A close friend of mine recently announced that she is pregnant. It was completely unexpected as she has not planned financially for the pregnancy. There are so many costs to consider and lots of expensive doctor's visits. Each week she has to visit specialists which costs a couple of hundred of dollars. Unfortunately she can no longer work as she experiences severe bouts of morning sickness. Sometimes she's so sick, I have to do her shopping for her - buying things I'd never even knew existed, like maternity tights! She often seems rather fatigued and at times can get rather emotional. This has really made me think twice before getting pregnant. I would like everything planned prior to having a baby, otherwise it is too stressful. I often drive her to see the doctor and she often tells me she is quite excited about the prospect of giving birth. The only thing which she finds difficult to follow is the restriction of certain food and alcohol. At times she has these wild cravings and feels terribly guilty afterwards as has given into them. However she has worked around these issues now and am looking forward to the big day. |

My husband is in the military and was deploying. We decided to take leave and drive from Colorado to Ohio. Unfortunately the day we were leaving for our 21 hour drive, I had to go to the dentist to get some dental implants. Growing up I did not have insurance so over the years my teeth got bad. My dentist had to fill three teeth and rebuild one. I had to get several shots to numb my whole mouth because my cavities were scattered equally in my mouth. The cost was gonna be expensive and I knew I could not afford it so the dentist wrote off part of the amount. It was extremely nice of him and made me think highly of him as a person. From that moment on I do not think I cared about the pain that was awaiting. It went smoothly. After we were done, the dentist and I even shared a few laughs. My mouth was numb so it was hard to talk, but he put me at ease. Overall, it was a very positive experience and my outlook is much better than before. |

Just because you are handicapped doesn't mean you can no longer be part of the active workforce. America and most other countries around the world has opened its doors to make work for disabled people more accessible and wide-reaching. In the past, work for the handicapped was limited to making arts and crafts as alternative sources of livelihood. These were then labeled as made by blind, deaf or mute people and marketed with sort of “guilty conscience” approach to it.
Able-bodied citizens felt like they were obligated to buy because they were blessed with regular faculties and stable employment. All of that has changed though. Telecommuting has allowed differently abled citizens to work regular challenging corporate jobs without people discriminating against them or taking pity on them.
The internet has evened up th playing field for handicapped people in a veritable number of ways. With onlone jobs, it now doesn't matter if the person behind the monitor is confined to a wheel chair or cannot walk properly. |

When I first found out I was pregnant I was both excited and scared. My husband and I had not planned to have a second child so soon after our first. We had hoped the children would be two or three years apart and now they were going to be 16 months apart. I began to think back to when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter and I remembered having the same feelings. I remembered the initial shock of finding out that in less than 9 months I would be responsible for someone else but I also remembered the first time I held her and how she had melted my heart. However, I also thought about how enjoyable pregnancy was - I even bought some maternity lingerie when I was pregnant the first time. I thought about the time I was pregnant and how for the most part I enjoyed it and I remembered the first time she smiled at me and I knew right then and there that she was mine and I was hers. Although I have fears about bringing another child in to the world, I try to focus on the good things that will come. I try to think about the first laugh and the first smile and the first time wanted me over anyone else. There is nothing that prepares for you for those moments. No matter what you feel when you find out you are pregnant nothing can compare to the joy of holding someone you know is half you. |
