Summer is a time we all love. It's a time when we can eat out doors and enjoy the good weather and cool evenings, but that good weather brings with it pests of a kind that can be a nuisance inside the house or out. There is nothing worse than sitting and enjoying some nice piece of something sweet and being buzzed by wasps. Worse still is being bugged - pardon the expression - by mosquitoes. It's at times like this that we have to dip into our bug armoury. Out come the fly sprays and fly killer and the wasp menace is ended. As the evening sun sets, the high-pitched whine of little Dracula's is heard as they come for their nightly feed, only to be repelled by the wafted scent of citrus. Thank goodness for our weapons that give us the field of victory, if only for the day! |

Take a good look at your home and go through every corner, room by room. Are you happy with what you see? Sure, there are your favorite furnishings and items which bring fond memories but are you totally happy with the color and clutter? Over the years things tend to develop in a haphazard way and your house ends up 'all over the shop'. Perhaps that is the reason people move houses several times in their lifetime in order to start with a clean slate. Moving can be a headache and a heartache especially if you have nice neighbors and friends or children happy at school. A good solution is to take control of your life and put some DIY skills to good use. Go to the hardware store - look at the softwoods, the hardwoods, the paint colours, the design brochures - imagine YOUR house with some new decor, all applied by yourself. This can save a lot of money as well as provide pride and joy in your home. Both you and your partner need to do some serious planning and agree on a lot of decisions and choices before attempting any large project. Once all the plans are in place and agreed upon there will be a time for some serious de-clutter, sale of unwanted and redundant possessions as well as trips to the rubbish tip. The serious DIY work including some demolishing, re-building, painting, decorating, cleaning and re-furnishing can be done with specific design themes in mind. Try and complete all the work within 12 months and avoid too many arguments by sticking to your plans. The rewards will be uniformity, space and a clean fresh look in your home which can be enjoyed for many years until your next big Dream DIY project. |

I have only had bad experiences with pest control. I have had a chronic cockroach problem that will not go away. I have tried bug sprays, repellants, outdoor spray, you name it. I wish cockroaches were as easy as flies to deal with - I got rid of them with fly screens. I have even used bug bombs multiple times in my household, but to no avail. The problem has become so severe over recent months that I had no choice but to hire pest control to fix the problem. I have hired two pest control companies over the last few weeks. The first gentleman I hired did nothing but take a look around my house, look under the fridge, and gave me some home brand bug spray, as if that would suffice. The second gentleman was not so useless, however he wanted to charge an exorbitant amount that I was not willing to pay. It is because of this that I have taken to creating a makeshift flamethrower out of fly spray and a lighter. It is the only thing I have found that works, and I have made a game out of it. For each cockroach I ignite I receive 10 points. If I receive 100 points, I can have a drink of scotch. On a nightly basis I end up happily intoxicated, with a flame thrower in my hand, burning the cockroaches under my fridge. Not a bad way to live if I do say so myself. |

Telephone numbers today are the best for communication in many companies as they are the ones that most customers would afford. Because of the fact that they have been made available today for easier communication, many companies have had a reason to advance from the complaints that they receive from their customers that make them rectify anything that is necessary and thereby improve their services. But there are times when a customer is highly inconvenienced when trying to call yet the line is not going through. Such can cause great disappointments especially when the number is reserved for emergency cases. That is why, even in the case of 24 hour emergency electrician lines, they should be set on at all times because calls by a customer to report an emergency case cannot really wait. It is even worse that it involves electronic appliances that may cause severe accidents that a customer may require to be attended to as immediate as possible. Thus, the lines should be set on at all times in readiness to receive an emergency call. |

Our house is quite old, and although we've made some structural updates to it e.g. new decking components for our deck, the indoor appliances haven't been updated in years. The fridge, microwave, stove, dishwasher, and washer and dryer all need to go. There is a ton of new technology out from the major manufacturers like GE that make life so much easier. Even modern inexpensive appliance would make life easier from the ones we have since they would simply work on a regular basis, but the best new appliances would be nice. There is even new technology that allows them to talk to each other and be put on a schedule so they run at the best times to make use of cheaper electricity during down times and so that they don't have to be run in the middle of the night. Finally, if something were to go wrong with our current appliances, it would be much more difficult to fix them since the parts are so old. That certainly would not be a problem if everything were new. |

Living in New York City presents all sorts of challenges, but one of the most disgusting of all is the roaches that seem to infest every apartment building. I'd only had to deal with bed bugs previous to moving to New York, and they were easily dealt with using bed bug sprays. However cockroaches are indestructible and no matter what type of pesticide or solution you use, they manage to come back in full force. When you are a renter, the responsibility for keeping the apartment pest-free rests with the landlord, and you are at their mercy in terms of pest control and extermination. I remember that we would have monthly visits from the “bug man” who would spray around the baseboards. Everything would be clean for a few days, but then the roaches would start to return. If I bought my own bug spray, they would also disappear for a few days, but inevitably they would return – as soon as my neighbor found my roaches in her apartment. Then she’d spray and then come back to mine! That is the way roaches operate in New York. They go from apartment to apartment to avoid the sprays. Unfortunately, getting rid of roaches is an almost impossible task. You really have to keep at it on a daily basis if you want to be successful. The only other option is to NOT move to New York City! |

Giving to the needy is not something that is done by many people. In fact the people who do that a lot are celebrities who have a cause that they are attached to emotionally or if they just want to make appearances. If anyone was to take note, the only time that they do this is when they have the money to give away but before they started they started earning a lot of money they could not afford to help other people. There is this one celebrity who is interested in making homes for homeless children. So what he did is that he helped other well wishers build a home for homeless kids in a certain region and he also helps in the maintenance of that home and those kids. He pays all the bills and when the house was being built he hired electricians who had electrical safety certificates. He did not want to take chances with the safety of those kids because he knew how a bad installation of an electrical system would cause. |

I would like to add an additional storage room to my home. I would add it to the back rear of my home. It should be a small room, about 9 x 9. It would only be accessed from outside, through a doorway into the room. An additional concrete slab would have to be poured. The roof should be sloped, so water cannot collect on the top. The siding would be matched to the exact siding of the house, and painted the same color. The walls would be finished, and a storage system built into it, so that items could be stored in an organized fashion. This room could be used for storing pool toys during the winter, and chair and lounge cushions for my outdoor furniture. It could also be used for storing gardening tools, pots, and outdoor equipment, such as a lawn mower and spreader. Outdoor toys, such as bicycles, balls, and other sports equipment would also be stored in the new addition. This new room would add much needed storage space to our home, and would be a welcome addition. My husband has undertaken a self build project recently and once that's complete I'll get him to work on this project! |

When I was younger, my sister got a got at a barber shop and was always bringing her friends home and cutting their hair in the kitchen. I remember my sister having a spray bottle to squirt water on the hair before cutting it. Sometimes, because I was annoying, she would let me play with the spray bottle in order to keep me out of trouble. I used to enjoy squirting the cold misty water in my moth and drinking it. Some time later in that same year, I was playing in the kitchen and I opened the cupboard doors under the sink. I found my sisters bottle and it still had some water in it! I took it outside and squirted a lot of it in my mouth. My father had seen me from the window and came rushing out, He was very angry and immediately rushed me to hospital. It turned out that the bottle wasn't my sisters bottle, it just looked like it. It was actually a very strong mixture of a solution bought to kill the ants that invested my home's toilet. I ended up having my stomach pumped at the age of nine and was sick for many days. The lesson of the day is to almost keep any form of pest control away from children and keep such bottles clearly labelled too, as older children will know to stay away from them. Or better yet, use some non-dangerous methods of pest control like door fly screens. People seem to forget that more often than not, pest control CAN be far more dangerous than the actual pests. |

If you have been wondering what to do with the old empty attic, grandma left behind, then read on, for we have ideas for you. Remember, an attic is a place where you store all the brick-bats, but if you use the help of remodelers, you could turn the old rustic attic into a fabulous new functional space, either as a swanky new bedroom or even a wonderful children’s playroom.
There are many remodelers out there who would be glad to assist you with your project. But you should with due diligence check their standing in the market, the goodwill they have amongst customers and also the prices they quote, before choosing them for the attic remodeling.
Remodelers would give you concepts, designs and ideas for your old attic to be turned into a luxurious living space. You can also speak to them about what you have in mind and juxtapose it with their solutions, it would be a win-win situation all the way. |

If you have ever had cockroaches in your home, you know that there is no easy fix to this problem. Other bugs like flies are easy - some carefully placed framed window fly screens can keep those out. But cockroaches are just trickier. And unfortunately, roaches are easy to get in your home. You can carry them in with your groceries or have them delivered in your packages. Cockroaches have been around for 300 million years, and they have adapted well to their environment. They can live without food for up to a month and can survive without air for at least 45 minutes. They can even withstand radiation levels up to 15 times higher than a human lethal dose. The food they eat can be nearly anything leavings from humans and pets or even the glue from the back of your postage stamp. There are many methods for getting rid of them. Be sure you keep all your food stored away in sealed containers, use tightly sealing garbage cans and clean regularly. Seal up entry points along baseboards, pipes, doors and windows with silicone caulk. Applying a product that contains diatomaceous earth as a fine powder works well if you can keep it in place and dry. Most insects are vulnerable to it, but it is harmless to humans. There are a number of products on the market for controlling cockroaches. Bait stations, usually containing hydramethylon and boric acid powder are also toxic to roaches. Products that contain deltamethrin or pyrethrin are also effective for keeping roaches at bay. One of the most effective controllers for cockroaches is one of its predators, the common house centipede. Most homeowners would rather their homes not be invaded by centipedes to control their roach problem. You can also hire a professional pest control service to come in periodically to handle your situation. |

Recent events in Japan have made this technologically advanced country rethink seriously about their dependency on nuclear energy. Only 18 of the 54 nuclear reactors in Japan are operational as I write this article. The Japanese government have already intimated that they are looking to solar power now. The solar panel has been with us for some time now - powering anything from security lights to calculators. However, how we will scale up with solar power is the real problem - but one that I'm very sure Japan will find a soluton to. It's in Japan's interests to finally tackle the clean fuel problem. As Japan has very little fossil fuels of its own, Japan needs to find a long-term solution to its unquenchable thirst for energy. If nuclear isn't their future, then they will need to do some intensive research and development into clean energies like solar, wind, hydro and thermal powers. |

Industrial rewiring is not an easy task, there has to be thorough inspection carried out before anything else because it is something that covers large acres of land and if anything has to go wrong, the damage will be too much. After the inspection, the wires have to be thoroughly checked to ensure they are strong enough to overcome any strong wave of electrical movements to ensure that it is safe and can handle powerful sources. If you compare the industrial and rewire house cost, it is definite that those who use industrial rewiring spend more money as the process is longer and consumes a lot of time. Those who use house rewiring costs though still feel the pinch while paying for these services are better off because it will take less time and they will not have to go to the licensing board to get an inspection officer so long as the electrician is registered under the law and can perform these tasks well. It is obviously cheaper to cover for the cost of home rewiring compared to that of industries even as the size contributes to the money payment. |

Before you choose the right pet movers, here is what you need to do
1. Get in touch with the consulate of the country you would be moving to, this would help you find out the requirements you would have to adhere with to bring your pooch to their land. There would be some documents to follow and fill, says pet movers associations.
2. Not all airlines allow for pets to be flown across, so find out if the airline you prefer to travel by, would allow little Duchess to fly on, say pet movers experts.
3. You should get a clean chit from your vet before you plan to move to another city, state or country, says pet movers.
4. Don’t overfeed your little Duchess before the travel, not twenty four hours before at least. She may end up bringing it out, because they do not have the capacity to take so much stress, not as much as what we can, say pet movers. |

There are people who do not like parting with money especially when it comes to important matters like rewiring a house. This is something that I have experienced with my father who is a drunk. My mother even has two jobs in order to manage to pay the bills in the house and she would not have to work this hard and yet she could get help from my father. There was this time our house was amongst houses that got hit by a hurricane and the electrical system was tampered with in such a manner that it all had to be rewired. The cost of rewire was a lot because the circuits had to be installed again. The cost of rewiring alone is at least a thousand Euros and that price is not inclusive the cost of installing the circuits. Since electricity is important, she even had to get in to a huge debt so that she could meet the costs and yet my so called father spent a lot of money drinking a lot. |

“Call the electrician”, said grandma every time the bulbs would flicker. Think of it folks, grandma wasn’t wrong, for the lights would only flicker if there was a power fluctuation or if you had faulty wiring system installed, which you wouldn’t know off.
Every year due to faulty wiring systems, most homes and offices burn to a rubble, don’t be a statistic anymore, call expert Electricians to come and check for the same. An Electrician would be available round the clock, but if you call him at odd hours or on weekends, expect to pay more than what you would otherwise on weekdays and during regular business hours.
Electricians help fix, maintain and upgrade all electrical needs at home or at your workplace. It could be repairing the washing machine’s power chords or even the coffee maker installation at work, call the Electrician.
So good old grandma knew why Electricians were so important, didn’t she!! |

Usually garages become one big dumping place for all your house tools. Everything from garden tools, to sporting tools, house maintenance tools and a lot more are stored in the garage. Sometimes, these tools in the garage occupy more space than the car parked in here. One of the best methods to free up some of your garage space is to get rid of the stuff you don’t need nor use. Even pricey equipment that you no longer use should be considered for disposal.
Once you have removed all the stuff you don’t need and use, it will be easier to think of garage storage solutions for the remaining tools. There are many ways to store your stuff using garage storage that are easily available and accessible. You can use pegboards, hooks or mount shelves on your garage wall to keep your tools. It is easily visible this way and you can find and use them anytime you need them. |

Going thru a tragedy in your life is really a hard thing to do. A tragedy like a divorce can really tear your family and house apart. One of the ways I have dealt with this tragedy in my life is to exert all my energies into beautifying my home.
I started with the exteriors of my home. I didn’t want my house to look gloomy so I had my house repainted in bright pastel colors. Now that I have the freedom to do whatever I wanted with my house I decided to use a Mediterranean theme for my décor.
I got the exterior house paint ideas from a home improvement show I saw on TV. The house was painted in lemon yellow with the roof and awning in ball pen blue ink. Small details like the borders of windows and the front door were painted in a lighter shade of blue to match the color of the roof. This gave my home a happier façade that surely made it cozier for me and the kids. |
