Nothing Beats a Lazy Day Fishing in a Boat Waiting for the Bobber to Disappear

I have been fishing since I was just a little kid - I remember my dad showing me how he fishes for carp with his array of carp fishing tackle. It introduced me to the tactical side of fishing.
In the years since then my fishing expertise has grown substantially. I know how to troll for walleye. I'm an expert at presentation with a bass worm and get a thrill from feeling the slight "tick" on the line when the bass hits and I'm about to set my hook. I think I just miss the simplicity of how fishing was when I was younger. There was no 15 pound tackle box loaded with every color of fishing lure imaginable. There was also no expensive rod and reel, only a simple one that my dad was untangling constantly. I guess it was all about fun then, not about beating my previous record. If we didn't catch anything that was OK, because it wasn't really about the fish biting at all. It was about spending some quality time with my family and laughing about how boring fishing can be when nothing is biting. Of course, just about the same time that I would say how bored I was, that bobber would disappear and my dreams about the monster on the end of the line would start running wild.
