Reason why may people decide to deactivate their facebook accounts

My young brother is the one basket ball player in his year in high school, who is being highly wanted by very many universities in the state and also outside. He already knows which university he wants to play for and he gets tired when camera men are always on his face asking him which team he is going to play for. There is a press conference that has been set up and when he announced his choice, people were surprised. The students that wanted them to play for their school even started spreading rumors on his facebook that he is doing that because our late mother worked their as a genitor and that is why he did not want to play for that school. This really hurt him because he adored my mother, and he plays basket ball so well so that he can honor her. We tried calling facebook help phone line so that they can help us put an end on these rumors by increasing security but they kept on telling us that we keep on blocking them. this became tiring because he would get numerous messages in his inbox and this broke his heart and that is when he deactivated his facebook account and openly declared his detest in that social network.
